The Print shop branding was an individual academic project about a print shop located at 2554 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC.  The shop store is one store of the L'Atelier building (a special place in our loft loving hearts). Since this building and community is a place with rich history. And people living here has impressed memory with this place. I began by shaping the idea(Nostalgic) and creating the necessary digital/print marketing, social media, web, and promotional materials. This encompassed crafting elements such as the store name, logo, color schemes, advertisements, and merchandise.

Story

Time Traveler Print, a 30-year-old shop (First 5 year was not here at hasting street, it moved to here in 1995, same year with the L'Atelier building. Time Traveler Print is is not atypical printer shop. This printshop is a place where customers’ imaginations and ideas come to life on paper. It is also a community hub where many workshops and events related to print are held here. Over the years, “Time Traveler" has been the starting point for countless artists who started their artist journey here and become renowned artists later. Artists who started their dreams here come back to do volunteer workshop sometime. This print shop is a place providing the best print services meanwhile connecting people and their memories.

Color Choices

The color choices for this brand in CMYK align with the prevalent color model used in printing. This deliberate selection not only demonstrates a nuanced understanding of the printing process but also conveys professionalism and expertise in the field. The use of CMYK colors enhances the visual appeal and instills trustworthiness in customers, making it an ideal choice to symbolize the seamless integration of modern print technology.

Typography

The main font is Kallisto, chosen for its distinctive features that seamlessly match the brand’s identity. The font’s sharp, sleek, and machine-age characteristics evoke a blend of historical significance and innovation. Designed by Rian Hughes, Kallisto carries a unique personality, encapsulating the essence of the machine-age theme I aim to convey. Franklin Gothic ATF is used as the secondary typeface, which offers a sleek and modern aesthetic for body text, bringing a sophisticated and minimalist touch to the content. Its thin and elegant strokes provide a clean and unobtrusive reading experience, allowing the text to appear refined and visually appealing. Kallistois ideally used for headlines, subheads, callouts, labels, while Franklin Gothic ATF is good for body text. Those two type elements should be used for all formal communications.

Logo

This logo design integrates CMYK and black hues, featuring a sleek typeface without extra patterns. This choice wants to highlight the print shop’s distinctive trait—providing pristine, sharp, and high-quality products. The primary font,“Kallisto,” used in the logo and headings, blends a machine-age aesthetic with modern printing techniques. A pointer illustration symbolizing the letter “V” is strategically positioned, representing the concept of a time traveler.

This icon design is crafted specifically for an app icon, offering a choice of CMYK four colors tailored for the print shop. These colors align with the print industry color, making the shop easily recognizable. The graphic focuses solely on the pointer rather than incorporating text, creating a cleaner and more condensed look suitable for an app icon.

Customer Journey Map

This Customer Journey Map is designed to help the businesses gain a better understanding of customer needs, expectations, and emotions at different stages when using the print services.

Pattern

This design features the ink roller motif adorned with a palette of CMYK colors, intended for use in advertisements or on merchandise.

Posters Advertisement

These ad series spotlight the services of the Time Traveler Print Shop. The incorporation of CMYK colors is deliberate, maintaining coherence across the entire design. The right and middle posters share identical content but boast distinct layouts, placing greater emphasis on images depicting additional services. Differently, the left poster utilizes diverse CMYK color blocks and offset layout to enhance content visibility and make the text stand out.

The bright CMYK color applied on the ads make it very clear to see on the street.

Merchandise

The creation of merchandise for this project involved the utilization of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The colors and patterns incorporated into the merchandise were created based on the logo and pattern graphics present in this project.
